CHP has been working in collaboration with Region V Systems and Southeast District Health Department to engage Regional Medical Providers, Hospitals, Pharmacists, Law Enforcement, School Personnel, and other agencies to identify what components cause Nemaha County to be recognized as a “hotspot” by the State of Nebraska for Opioid abuse. Along with the 4 other counties in the region, Nemaha has received the State Targeted Response Opioid Crisis Grant which will provide a MedSafe medication receptacle for 24/7 safe disposal of medications.
Deterra packages will also be distributed throughout the county to promote disposal of unwanted medications safely and easily. CHP and its partners hope to lessen the rate of Opioid abuse in our county and surrounding areas. For more information on the Deterra System, visit: http://deterrasystem.com/ .
